another update…

Another update from up north, down under… Have been doing soooooo many things @ Brissy since I came…

Went to see glow worms (which are like little specks of LEDS in the caves), dream world (not as fantastic as I thought, only ONE ride scared me), Surfer’s Paradise (Shopping), Habour Mall or something (Bought a pair of shorts, strawberries and sample purfumes), Brissy City (Bought a marriage for dummies kinda book), rode around Uni of Queensland (Bigger than UC but still smaller than NUS or NTU), partied @ Family (Paid 2 bucks cheaper than the rest, I dunno why, whilst using Pinky’s ID cos I didn’t have a proof of age), met up with Kelly today (shopping and around), etc…

Will be going to Baron’s Bay early tmw to see the sunrise, then to some treetop walk thing and followed by Wild n Wet if it doesn’t rain… =0)

About the people now… James is Pinky’s remaining housemate, a nice guy, knew him back in SG, being Pinky’s NS mate or something… Anthony’s gone outta the house, conflict w Pink again… He doesn’t learn I guess… Juleana, Pinky’s GF… Nice cool gurl, hangs out with the boys… Stephen, older fella but nice understanding, older bro figure… Kelly, OC colleague, model for my visualizer project back in my LaSalle days, a good friend too… Ermmm others, I cannot rmber their names, but they are really nice people… Thanks guys for making me feel at home!

Pics pics pics… I will post when I’m back… Dunno why cannot upload…

I’m bushed alright…. After many days for missing work… Steve finally called today for work~ Woohoo! I was there till 5:15pm today… 8 hrs x AUD15.75 =0)

Was out with Kenneth, Chee Boon, Wei Siong and Anthony last night for dinner… Went to Lee’s Kitchen followed by Starbucks in Manuka… As usual, topic of the night, NS….

Finally changed my eyebrow stud day before… Leo refused to for the longest of time cos he want it to heal first… After 2 months… he finally budged…

My phone was down till yesterday… And Dad left me a message… for the first time in our lives… =0) Man, he sounded sooooo dorky over the phone… =0) Anyway it was sweet of my folks to give me a call as I would be away soon… =0)

Juz finished my chores before leaving for Brissy tmw… Washed my sheets, packed my bags, cleared my room, washed my tupperwares, etc… Am so sleepy now… *yawn*

Alrighty, think my next post will be in Brissy… OutZ

technology’s down…

Monday, June 20th, 2005

Many would marvel when Ansley confesses that there is a downtime in his techie devices…

For the past 2 days, the school’s internet network’s down. I had to walk to the school’s library and to Belconnen’s public library for the internet access.. That is pathetic! The residences services people flooded us with voice mails stating how sorry they were for what has happened, "The mice got into the server room and chewed up on the boards", etc… Right, if they were truly sorry and wanted to resolve that issue.. They should have gotten people to fix the problem EVEN though it was past quitting hours.. Ya, being sorry but not sorry enough to eat into profits to fix the problem..CRAP..

For the past 3 days, the residence’s phone network is down.. I wasn’t able to wish my dad a Happy Father’s Day… I wasn’t able to call my dear… I wasn’t able to call Palm helpdesk.. >0(

For the past 1 week, my Treo’s hotsync cable was down.. I had to call Palm with my mobilephone which cost me approximately AUD8 in total.. Called the helpdesk and the freaking Flipino gurl.. Totally rude, left no verbal reassurance, etc.. Finally they shipped it to me from Singapore.. However, even with the new cable, Windows just cannot detect my palm device… I am able to sync via ir but not USB??!!!!!!! I tried installing, reinstalling, deleting, hard resetting my palm, warm resetting, etc… SH!TTY~

prayer needed please…

Christian Brothers and Sisters… Please pray for Lenca and myself…

Lenca is experiencing dryness with God.. She is totally stressed out with work and even at home. That simply leaves her no refuge, back to back, one on the other… Please pray for His amazing grace, strength, blessing and even encouragement… It really aches my heart to see her being so troubled…

Ansley is experiencing lack of work… Though I said I will not complain about the rain and it effects on my job.. I would like to be prayed that thought it may rain, but they still need me to work.. I don’t wish the rain to stop as it’s just so needed here.. But I do have got to save money.. The funds to my committments are heading red for this month, although theorically I should be in a healthy green. Also please pray for me to find pleasure in work. I have learnt almost everything needed in my job. For those who knows me, I do tend to get restless and need constant thrill or even just learning..

Finally, please pray for us.. As we plan to get married at the end of 2007. Please pray for all aspects of marriage, our possible relocation, her dream job to be as a marketeer, my dream job to be a famous industrial designer…

Thanks all for all your prayers.. They are greatly appreciated…

no work for today…

Woke up feeling sleepy from the late night… I had to drag myself outta bed and as usual, get ready for work… Just as I was wearing my shoes to the toilet to brush my teeth… Lawry called… I didn’t need to show up at work as it was POURING in Civic… That’s very unlike Canberran weather, experiencing a drought for about 1 1/2 years… I know the Churches have been praying for rain and now it’s coming down, as much as I want to work, I’m not complaining… He says give thanks in everything and His grace is sufficient for you… So there… I stayed back and installed my computer updates and watnots…Managed to install SWAT 4 and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas too… Great games!

Anyway, I finally got Photoshop up and below *in* the carwash I’m working… Supposedly it’s older than me, approx 30 yrs old… Being inside brings me a sense of nostalgia… Everything’s so old.. Yup.. I was also told that the wash used to cost only AUD2.50 when they first started. Tony (the owner of the whole wash) and Pat (who is still working there) got it started and used to do everything by hand… Today a basic wash will set you back at least AUD25 and a complete one with the works about AUD40… Wow.. And they said in Sydney, the works cost AUD79.99… Carwash

It has been REALLY cold recently… I actually felt cold in my sweater whilst getting my mail for less then 2 minutes… And the sun was shining bright ya… Woah… My room’s temprature is now 18 degrees and I really wonder how cold is it outside now…

So many things happened after my last update, that I should update it soon… Before I forget anything… =0)

After 11th June was the 12th of June… 12th of June was a Sunday and yes, Taylor came along.. After service, we were told, by KC, that there was an Oakley sale Photo_061405_015 going on at EPIC, Exhibition Park in Canberra… As expected, Taylor and myself headed there immediately… I’ve never been to EPIC, and wow, there were so many exhibitions and events going on.. There were many different exhibition "halls", though I am more inclined to calling em warehouses… There were halls selling clothes, books, fireworks (yes, that is legal in Canberra during the Queen’s Birthday and New Year’s), books, leather stuff and finally… OAKLEY! Hhehehehehe Well.. stuff there were DIRT cheap… I was sooooooo tempted to get so many item but at the end, here’s my bought list… 1 FMJ Minutes for AUD70, 1 A Wire for AUD100, 1 Camo Kids bag for AUD30, 2 Wallets for AUD10 each, 1 pair of pants for AUD30, 1 shirt for AUD20.. Just before leaving for Church in the morning, I was please with myself for not over spending this month… 5 hours later, I’m outta budget already… =0) But it was a good buy…

Photo_061205_010After leaving the Oakley’s hall, we came across a dog show, after scaling a fence… Dog yupping away, running, jumping, bouncing, fighting, etc… We later tried to go to the Grotheman House Markets but came to realize, they only open on Saturday mornings.. Oh well, we dropped by Civic Mall to get Taylor’s mom a Bday pressie, and we went home… Later in the evening, I went to the Fresh Food Marktets with Wee Shan, Kenneth and Chee Boon… Followed by FIREWORKS… Woohoo! Smelt of gun powder by the time I reached home…

Monday was a holiday, the Queen’s Bday… Woohoo… Took the time to spray my model in the morning. It didn’t quite work as it was too cold and the paint didn’t dry bring glossy but matt… It’s Photo_061305_001recommanded temprature was at least 15 degrees, it was about 5 outside… But nevertheless, that made a good base coat… Started formatting my notebook to realize I’ve got a couple of viruses within.. And I ended up formatting it about 3 times over the next two days… Yeah… I cooked curry with prata that evening.. yummy… but it was a little too spicy for me.. And no, it’s not spicy enough for you LankyDear…

Tuesday was started with a phonecall.. Lawry told me not to come in until 12 as it was really quiet at the carwash… I decided to be productive with my time and since I was awake and already changed.. I headed to school to finish up of my model and submitted it. Now I’m truly free!  Photo_061405_004 Afterwhich, returned my near overdued book and tried to borrow this book which I have been looking for ages but still unsuccessful.. What happens is, the library has 3 copies of the book, in the system, 2 of which has been borrowed, and another one left.. I FREAKING cannot find that book on the shelves and I suspect someone has lifted that copy… Oh well.. I drove to Bel Mall and deposited Lenca’s cheque, bought our wedding march’s theme, Pachabel Canon CD and headed to Church’s Co-Op Shop… I need new workpants but couldn’t find any.. Oh well… Photo_061505_001Took a slow drive to work, being still early and my phone rang with Lawry asking for me to be there and hour early.. Just nice… Went there, another SUPER short shift… 3 hours… Sigh.. Came home, finished installing my softwares, collected my parcel which Taylor kindly collected for me… It was my "3 row, pyramid studded belt.. Apprarently they shipped it from China… And boy is the stamp on the packaging nifty.. Guess that’s why I caught Taylor trying to lift it off the packaging! Heheheheh So that’s it for that day…

Today is Wednesday… Woke up and arrive @ work on time @ 0830hrs… I was supposed to finish work @ 1200hrs but the regional manager of Mobil came and Steve had to clean *his* car… Apparently, the CEO of Mobil Australia will be visiting tomorrow and that *was* the car which will be used to fetch him over… Wow… Anyway, I found out that petrol doesn’t bring in money to the stations anymore.. It’s the cafes and supermarkets within which bring in the bucks…

Another issue is that I have applied to move to another room for this coming semester. However, the date of moving clashes with my Brissy trip. Knowing that, I have made a formal request for a change of date. Yesterday, I went to the Cooinda Hut, the Residential Office, to confirm my request. Those MF dweeps… They didn’t get that done and now someone is moving in my room when I’m not in… I went back again today to speak to the accomodation officer herself… A little background, I found out that she was on leave for 10 days, her work is backlogged as no one wants to pick her sh!t, she’s quite an a$$hole, etc… Initally, she refused to speak to me and had a counter staff to relay messages… I realized I had to turn on my demanding mode… *demanding/a$$holic/MFCCB mode ON* I demanded to see her. Finally she came out and she gave me 3 options… 1) To get a friend to move in for me, 2) To pay for storage and move in when I return or 3) Choose another room. I flatly refused all three… I insisted that I have had made a formal request a long time back, they didn’t bother to tell me anything until now when I knocked on the door, she was on leave WITHOUT cover (WTF is that?! What a F-ed up organization), I’ve got too much study material (aka juletong wood, sandpaper, paint, upsidedown clock, etc..), etc… She still insisted no.. I offered a suggestion if we could move the *new* student into another room since he/she wasn’t here yet.. She came out with the excuse, "It’s an existing resident moving into UV and it’s not fair to him/her" CRAP… As it is for me… Finally, I told her if I can contact the moving in resident to see if we can work out a compromise, since *she* won’t compromise nor admit it was her mistake… She still said no, unless I put it down in writing.. And so I did, I drafted a nasty letter with comments such as " Christine, after returning from 10 days of leave without any covering officer…", "Christine unable to come to a compromise even when it’s clearly neglence on her side", etc… She read my letter and mocked at it.. She told me, even as I write this letter, I *might* not be able to get it thru.. I knew what she was saying… I knew there wasn’t per se an overseeing officer above her and unless I direct this issue directly to the director of the residential services.. I’ve got no edge against her.. I had to put my tail between my legs to make mention that I don’t want to blow this matter up but you left me no options… She said she’ll check on what *other* possible arrangements she can come up with… I told her I’d wait… She disappeared and I noticed her table was close to the counter and I started remarking to the other counter staff (who are my friends) loudly, "Yeah, I will definitely write to the Director..", "What sort of administration is this?!", etc… Finally, she came back and gave me a compromise, to move in when I return, and before my ski trip which is although 2 days, because of the trip I only have 1 night. Oh well… I’m glad what I’ve learnt in MHA has paid off… I will practice it more often when needed… I cannot always be a "nice guy" and get eaten.. Thanks to Heather and Michelle~

Later in the evening, I cooked some bo bo cha cha.. Didn’t quite take a picture of it as I forgot so.. Oh well, I’ve got some in my fridge.. I’ll see what happens ya… Alrighty, gtg now… Wow… What a blog… =0)

a day for myself…

Saturday, June 11th, 2005

After a long while, I finally got a day for myself.. Well, sort of… My day started with work at the carwash.. I was kinda dreading it a little, being so tired and watnots… In fact, I slept at 10 last night in attempt to catch enough rest. And yes, it was worth it… I was alot livelier this morning… It turned out pretty good… In fact, I thank God that he actually sent rain… It was raining almost the whole of today and that meant, there weren’t many cars in the wash… But yes, there are still cars… amazingly… That also mean we closed at 1130am this morning… a short of 2 hours, a short of AUD40… I was kinda feeling the pain on the "wasted money" but, there prolly be a good reason why it happened and I trust Him

After work, I went down to Jolimont Centre to book for my ski trip… Well, I booked 3 places for snowboarding @ Threadbo and 6 places for skiing @ Perisher Blues… That amount totalled up to AUD1230~ WOW! Anyway, my bankcard got rejected cos their server was down, so I’ve gotta go down to pay after work on Tuesday…

I then proceeded to AutoPro and Super Cheaps to get some supplies… I’ve decided to try changing my plugs in attempt to improve my mileage… Bought four of em for AUD13.05, after 10% discount at Super Cheaps… Also bought spray cans for my hedge trimmer… I installed the plugs on the spot in the rain… Had this dejavu feeling… Reminds me so much of my dad, fixing his car… A familiar scene I often experience when I was younger…

Came home, did my pushups (did 20 in one breath, think I should increase the numbers though), washed and dried my clothes, cooked veggies with instant noodles (yes, more veggies than noodles, yummy too!), Geoff and Jess came by to return my CDs and I slept..

Woke up at 6, watched the Simpsons and Monk… DLed movies off the network, cleared my files to backup as I am gonna format my computer on this coming Monday and Taylor called. We met up and walked to VideoEZY where he rented a DVD… Came back, gave him his bday present early, since winter is here… I delibrately chose a Canadian beanie. Wanted to see his reaction being a stunch Canadian, would he wear something for his nation… He did. Anyway, he is coming to Church tmw… =0)

Yeah, and after that here I am, making this entry… Am missing Lenca so much… As I was walking just now, so many sights reminded me of her.. The hill towards her room, the path, the lake, etc… Sigh.. Must be strong now, 1 1/2 yrs is not long, and I better enjoy this time alone for I gotta face her for the rest of our lives… =0)

And now the picture of the day… Featuring, Taylor, in a red CANADIAN tuk…

you make me feel brand new

Thursday, June 9th, 2005

Am now so crazy over this song… The lyrics are sooooo meaningful… And yes, this song is dedicated to Lenca, for you my darling… So honest are these words for you…

_____________________________________________________________________________________

You Make Me Feel Brand New

Simply Red

My love

I’ll never find the words, my love

To tell you how I feel, my love

Mere words could not explain

Precious love

You held my life within your hands

Created everything I am

Taught me how to live again

Only you

Cared when I needed a friend

Believed in me through thick and thin

This song is for you

Filled with gratitude and love

God bless you

You make me feel brand new

For God blessed me with you

You make me feel brand new

I sing this song ’cause you

Make me feel brand new

My love

Whenever I was insecure

You built me up and made me sure

You gave my pride back to me

Precious friend

With you I’ll always have a friend

You’re someone who I can depend

To walk a path that never ends

Without you

My life has no meaning or rhyme

Like notes to a song out of time

How can I repay

You for having faith in me

extension… AGAIN??!!

Monday, June 6th, 2005

Yup, we got another *unofficial* extension for our models… A couple of us have been really consistent with our hard models at the workshop for the past few weeks and only a few are close to completing their models… Others like myself are still bogging up the uneven surfaces and putting the parts together. I have just fit the guard and the handle/switch of my hedge trimmer to its body… It was quite a bitch to fix em on, but they fit pretty nifty right now… All I’ve gotta do now is further bog, spray prime and sand my model, till it’s all smooth… It’s almost there but not quite yet… The end is near but still a certain distance… I can’t image my other classmates who have been MIA (missing in action) at the workshop.. Anyway, Don mentioned that this will be our last model we will be doing so he wants it "perfect"… Whatever *that* means…

Submitted my ProE yesterday… I only got 60 marks for it, compared to most others who got around 90… Sigh.. I could so kiss my distinction goodbye for this sem with *this* grade… In fact, this had me thinking, many of my other classmates’ trimmers have such a simple form.. As in straight extruded products, simple curves, single radii, etc.. Mine’s super curvy, has variable radius, etc.. Of course I would have issues with the surface… It seems as Eddi was grading on the final work per se, not on a curve… Personally, I think that’s not fair as some would have a "simpler" project than the others… Another arguement is that I *could* have designed something easier to create, in ProE and model making..  But oh well, as least I know I am not discounting myself on my work and styles because I wanted to avoid extra work and good grades…

It’s starting to get really cold in Canberra… In the sun outside now, with the wind blowing, is about 15 degrees… At night, it dips to -6 degrees… Woohoo… Cold cold eh… Can’t wait till I get to Gold Coast… Am so gonna go swimming at the sea… Being used to this weather, Brissy’s winter waters won’t scare me.. Besides, I’ll get a kick seeing Pinky freeze in the water… =0) Pure live entertainment I tell you~ =0)Photo_060705_002_1
