Had my presentation for my recycle-design project already… Didn’t do too bad… Just awaiting for the exhibition sometime in August… The 4th one in my life.. =0)

Also got my grades for the tree paddock project… I was pretty down after the presentation the other day as it seems as the ACT people were not looking for what was stated in the brief.. They were looking to a short term, as low as it would cost us (ai pee ai chee) kinda solutions compared to the "long term, feasible solutions for a span of 80- 140 years"… With that, financially, my concept of using the animal scent is way out… The good thing is that our lecturers graded us on our concepts as stated in the brief and out group got a credit for that.. 65-75 marks ain too bad for a week long project..

Speaking about grades, I received an official notice that my grades for Contemporary Issues of Design has upped from a credit to a distinction.. Woohoo…

I am starting to embrace ProE.. Am gonna remodel my hedgetrimmer in ProE again… I wanna make it accurate and yet practice…

I will be joining the Singapore Furniture Design Competition this year, for the first time…

Dearies chanced upon reasonably cheap tickets (SGD660, return trip) to visit myself in Canberra. After much discussion, we decided not to, though we would really want see each other, as there might be possible employment opportunities for her back home, the cost of tix and lost of income, etc… In God we trust to see us through our relationship, marriage, jobs and beyond…

I bought a pair of Levi’s 560 (AUD10) and a nice Geoffrey Beene shirt (AUD2) at St Vinnes today… It started out with me needing to buy new jeans for work as the one I’m wearing has torn pretty badly but I just spotted the nice white shirt and that pair of Levi’s… Oh yeah, you would have figured, they are 2nd hand but the jeans seemed new, still have that starchy feeling to it… =0)

Car theft is on the rise at the carpark in Uni… I thank God I can see my car from my window… And that is good… =0) Spot Yagger people…

Ordered two books off amazon today… Design secrets 1 and 2 for SGD114… It’s a steal, cos I remember it being SGD120 at Basheer, and that’s for part 1 only…

Urgent Prayer Request

Monday, July 25th, 2005

Hi guys,

I’ve just got word that my sis has been admitted to the hospital again. Before any details, I would like to praise God that she has made an effort to be with Him once again, after been backslidden for many years. I thank God for her committment to Him by attending two Christian encounters and yet wanting to be baptized afterwhich.

Apparently, my sis is going thru another bout of kidney aches. She had this before but I believe this is a relapse. Indeed, she has been through alot over these few years, being in financial difficulty, taking care of the 3 monsters, etc…

Please from for God’s protection over her family, herself, the boys and every little thing which might seem small to us but is of greatest importance to our Lord Jesus Christ.

Please also pray for my parents; my dad who is now not only supporting my overseas studies but also my sister’s family and my mom who is taking the extra effort in babysitting the 3 monsters.

Thanks people, any and every prayers are greatly appreciated!

the first week passes…

Sunday, July 24th, 2005

Ahhh… I’m just so tired from this past week.. Submissions, parties, potlucks, farewells, presents..

As my previous blog entry, Monday was spent in shock with the heap loads of school work assigned to us. After school, Elizabeth and myself saw Stephan off at Canberra Airport. After visiting for almost 5 days, it was finally time to say goodbye. Had such a great time.. =0) Keep in touch man! After that, I had dinner at Bruce Hall, ANU with Elizabeth and Aaron, while watching Mythbusters… Great food, better company… =0)

Tueday’s even was me attending Sofian’s farewell party.. Nothing really eventful. I just brought a cut up rock melon as I was supposed to have dinner for Christine’s farewell… That girl ditched us to cook for her bf so there… I decided otherwise to go to the Labor Club without the star, hence arriving at Sofian’s earlier and also with an empty stomach… However, attending earlier didn’t quite help too, most of the food was gone as I’ve earlier told em not leave any for me.. Oh well… But Cyrus, as always, had some soup for me.. And also, as always, he the great chef, made really nice sour spicy soup.. =0)

I worked on Wednesday.. I am getting bored of my job though.. =0( Please pray that the joy of the Lord be with me, even as I study, work and play. I need new challenges…

Nothing much recorded on Thursday… Just had more assignments allocated… =0(

Friday was quite eventful… It was Cyrus’ Birthday and I chose to bring my bottle of Absolut Kurant as my potluck item.. As all who know me, I can’t hold my liquor… Ansley simply doesn’t drink more than his cover drinks and is always the driver home.. Not for that night… I think I drank about 1/5 of that bottle, with more white wine and watnots… All neat… =0( Think that was the first time I’ve drank so much in one episode… Woah… I slowed down and slumbered at the chairs.. Woke up twice to hurl… =0( I was supposed to meet Taylor at 10pm but was too drunk to do anything… Sorry Taylor boy… We’ll do uni bar this coming Friday ya? =0) Woah.

Woke up in time for work on Saturday… Worked from 830am till 145pm which was good… Afterwhich, I popped by Elizabeth’s to cook curry for the OCF’s dinner that night… And yes, I also did my free laundry at ANU.. =0) After cooking the curry, frying the eggs, Aaron washing the dishes, etc… I took a shower and Elizabeth and myself watched Madagascar and an episode of SCRUBS from her network… Not that impressive and I nearly fell asleep..

Not long after the shows, we left for the OCF dinner @ Woden. Everyone in the car (Aaron, Elizabeth and Mabel) , except for me, was ranting over MY classical CD.. They said things I just couldn’t comprehen, A minor, yadayadaski, etc…

OCF dinner was good… Fantastic chefs around..Lotsa nice people around… Played bluff, heart attack, etc… One or two tried to hit on me but I will not expound further… Burnt my hands pretty badly in my previous blog.. Anyway to all those shaking their heads already… LENCA knows the FULL story… =0P Sorry mates, fiancee’s privilege…  Came home afterwhich and that’s all for that day…

Had Zeffirelis for lunch today after church… Met Yong Mei with her churchmates there whilst I was with mine… Did some shopping at Bel Mall and fetched Elizabeth back…

That’s all…

Oh yes, LencaDear got Maureen to pass me some stuff… and here they are…

Presenting the first time…. Dooggylets in Yagger…

school in on…

Thursday, July 21st, 2005

School has started for barely a week and I’ve already got a submission tomorrow.. For this semester, I am taking 3 subjects as for the past two.. The difference this time is that my main studio subject is split into 4 projects… I would be doing an inter-year recycle project (due tmw), ACT-NE NSW Tree Paddock project, Sunbeam project and ProEngineering…

Inter-Year Recycle Project

This is just a week long project, given on Monday and due tmw.. I believe the lecturers implemented this to allow more inter-year interactions… We were supposed to design a product which is made from recycled items we can find in Salvos or something… With the four years in Industrial Design, we’ve got 4 members… Jerome from Yr 1, Sonya, Yr 2, Me, Yr 3 and Dan, Yr4. Sonya and myself went out late evening two days back to collect some milkcrates… We were planning to make shelves.. Today we met at the workshop and agreed to make a side table out of squash rackets instead. Yup, we are all ready for tmw’s presentation. And yes, there will be a exhibition abit later. Photos to be up when available.

Australian Capital Territory- Northeast New South Wales Tree Paddock Project

As we all know, Aussieland are fusspots when it comes to their indigenous plants and animals… Apparently, there are protected trees in farmland where livestock graze. With that, those freaking animals often choose to seek shelter under these trees. The consequences of that is the compacting of top soil and eventually killing the tree. Yes, we are suppose to design a fence like thing to prevent that from happening. It does not need to be a fence per se but the idea is just to prevent the animals from doing that. Am doing this project with Samantha. Will be meeting tomorrow to discuss more about this. Total cost of setting up per tree should be less than AUD500, so we can’t install laser to zap the cows. Yes, it is an official government project.

Sunbeam Project

Yayyy.. more industry based project. Sunbeam, this major whitegoods manufacturer/brand is looking to creating a new range of kettle and toaster combo. I like it’s targeted audience, people who are willing to spend and whatnots. The only issue I see is that the Sunbeam logo is too cheap to be placed on a high end device as specified. Yes, we will be presenting to the design team at Sunbeam themselves in Sydney.

ProEngineer

Again this semester?!!!! We are supposed to create ProE models for all the above projects and they must be industry spec-ed. AKA it must be manufacturable from the files itself. Literally from desk to machine to consumers. One thing about ProE is its non-intuitive interface: that’s why it’s called ProENGINEER and not ProDESIGNER.

My other 2 subjects are Practise Management and Furniture Design.

Practise Management.

No doubt, this is one of the most important subject we learn in uni yet the least regarded. I know it’s importance in managing timelines, project juggling, cost in time, etc.. but the lecturer is just soooooooo dry. We are supposed to present an application to a job (which I’ve already done a milion times), keep a scrapbook of job openings (isn’t this soooo highschool?) and a job tender (This is new, seems intimidating) . Oh well..

Furniture Design

We’ve got to build a live size, functional furniture. Now how am I going to ship that home I wonder. Oh, it’s a competition too… And together with a 2000 word essay.

gray sky morning…

Tuesday, July 12th, 2005

Here I am today, updating my blog when I should be working today… No I am not loafing but it’s only because of the gray skies which keeps me off work… No one washes their car in the rain.. Oh well, but I am still praying for rain as every Canberrean.. The big picture, aka drought, is more important then my picture, aka money.

Have done lotsa stuff since my last update… Those achieved includes, sending Pinky his drive, fixing Yagger’s left back door, borrowing and returning library books, shop for groceries, appealled for my grades…

Anyway, did I tell you that Juleana, Pinky’s gf, convinced me to dye my hair… It was *supposed* to be blonde.. But being virgin haired… it turned out bronze… Not too bad actually… I’ve got equal of good and bad comments… Comments include, "There goes your good boy image" to "Long lose Jappy surfer dude, of course discounting the eyes…" Oh well.. Dscf0001_1

Also, they were soooooo nice to actually send me some local goodies, from Sydney and a card, most of it written by Jule as I believe they figured I would have problems deciphering Pinky’s chicken scrawlings… I reckon it would cost em quite abit… Thanks guys~ Photo_071305_002_1

Talking about appealing of grades… I’ve got 2 credits and 1 pass… The 1 pass is for User Centred Design, the module I did with Mark and Kei… It’s so sucky being pulled down because of some lazy ass aussie.. I talked to Steve about my grades, to see if I can up it… Apparently, I cannot appeal to get a higher grade, but only to pass if I flunk that module.. Also, the pass was a high pass, 61 marks… Just 4 marks short of a credit.. He said he will talk to me again as he was leaving the country for some conference.. He didn’t seem to want to budge. Oh well… I was also not satisfied with my grades for the Contemporary Issues of Design… Spoke to Elvis and I found out I was 0.2 marks from a Distinction… WTF! She was for my appeal and now I’m awaiting for her to talk to Head of Design to up my grade… Please pray I get it… =0)

Anyway, I would like to take this time to apologize to my love, Lenca. I kinda kept something from her cos I was too afraid to tell her for sometime.. We were quite shaken about the whole thing even just the day before yesterday… I was so so afraid to lose her… Anyway, thank God for His grace and even Lenca for her grace that this whole thing has blown passed.. We have managed to put this behind us though I still sense some awkwardness.. I’m so sorry to keep that behind you dear.. I will never do that again.. Indeed, it is in His grace I live and that she has forgiven me.

Just the other day while working at the car wash… I had a breakthrough with Lawry.. Somehow, he share with me his problems and issues… I thank God, I was able to share with him my testimony and even encourage him though he is much older than myself… I saw that he was surprise to see the serious side of Ansley Jones behind that wild crazy facade… Amen! Have you see the serious side of Ansley Jones? Also, check out whose car I got to wash and drive.. =0)Photo_071105_001

Oh, I have finally got my proof of age card… It cost me only AUD5 Photo_071305_001and the ACT one definately looks better than the one from Queensland… Eat your heart out Pinky~ =0) It was so funny as the lady at the counter refused to believe I am 25 and only after a year arriving to Aussieland, that I am making my card… Hey~ I’ve never got IDed before, only once at Mooseheads and I don’t care cos there are always other clubs who will accept me without my 18+ card… Of course I had to use Pinky’s 18+ card when I was in Brissy cos Queenlanders are whining wursts..

Alrighty, I will end this post with my latest in food creation… Pork Curry Pasta for you folks…Porkcurrypasta2_2

We went snowboarding at Threadbo on the 3rd of July… Met a mate in the bus who brought me up the different runs, as the couple were holding fast to each other.. =0) Amazing, it was not really cold at the snowies… In fact, it is colder in Canberra then the white caps… Anyway, snowboarding was pretty intuitive and Pinky and myself kinda got the hang of it quickly… I heard Juleana had a major spill… Apparently, she landed on her head with a loud bang… Well.. she seemed shaken when I saw her afterwhich at a bench.. I would be shaken… Anyway, Pinky and myself later when to this other run… Unfortunately, from that run onwards, I kept on crashing… I realized I haven’t got strength left to control myself properly and with each subsequent spill, I was weaker.. In fact, I realised that I was so tired that my body automatically re-adjusted itself to me controlling with my positive leg despite the fact I was goofy footed… =0) Anyway, at the end of the day, I found a BIG BIG bruise on my outer right thigh… Never, never have a wallet in your pocket while snowboarding…

Later that evening, we watched "The War of the Worlds". My first big screen viewing in Aussieland… =0) Not a bad movie but an actrocious ending.. That Pink dweep told us that he knew the ending after the show… If he were to tell me earlier, I would have pushed for Herbie or something else… =0P

Monday was spent showing Pinky and Juleana around Canberra… With the gracious help from Elizabeth, we visited ANU campus, The Australia National Museum, Lake Burly Griffin, Telstra Tower, The Australian War Memorial and had Vietnamese food to end the day… Great fun… Nice touristy places for tropical Queenlanders…

We spent Tuesday up at the snowies at Perisher Blue this time, skiing… We met with Julie, my classmate, Chris, her fiance and their friend. whom I forgot his name… Nice bunch… The 3 of em tried to teach 3 of us skiing.. We spilled like never before… Anyway, little thing I’ve learnt at my 2 snow trip.. People say snowboarding is like skateboarding… Not true… People say skiing is like ice skating/ inline skating… Not true… but Snowboarding is closer to skateboarding that Skiing is to Inline skating… =0) Anyway, Pinky didn’t do quite as well at skiing… I reckon it’s the negative mindset he’s been having towards it… Anyway, it was good time… I really enjoyed myself…

Wednesday was a major one… Micheal and Rachel arrived, driving from Brisbane… Brought em out for brunch @ Cafe Injoy followed by the purchasing of CHEAP Precious Moments figurines… Jule decided not to take the bus back to Sydney at noon and joined us for the whole day… In fact, both Jule and Pinky crashed into Micheal’s car to head back to Sydney that day… Attractions we went that day was as before, the ANU campus, The Australia National Museum, Lake Burly Griffin, The Australian War Memorial, The New Parliament House and Mt Ainslie. We had two cars and Hong Yin, from Church and Melanie, visiting from Uni of Wollongong, joined us too… We ended our day at Hog’s Breath for dinner… Afterwhich, I bided farewell to the Queenlanders.. Pinky and myself exchanged hugs… Don’t know when we will meet again… Most prolly back in Sg… Yup…

As Stephan insisted, he came over to pick us up to the airport… He also became our alarm clock… We all overslept and were late… Along the way to Gold Coast, yes not to Brissy Airport, there were 2 accidents which delayed more time..

When we arrived, it was 8 mins to the closing of the check in counters… Going thru the X ray machines, Pinky’s pocket knife got confiscated… I had to put that in my bag and check it in.. We all continued sleeping in the plane…

Upon arrival, we got 24 pieces of Krispy Kreme doughnuts and proceeded to Central Station by taxi… Went into Paddy’s Market, came out with cherries, bananas and a tub of lanolin cream.. =0)

Made their many phone calls to their folks and we were seen sitting outside sharing our doughnuts.. Took more photos and it was time to go… Headed the Murray’s and board the bus to Canberra…

Along the way, almost in Canberra, I asked Juleana to touch the window.. She was shocked how cold it was… Pinky was simply convinced that it was abit cooler outside at the speed of the bus, besides it was heated in the bus… I simply shrugged… Finally, we are nearing the bus depot.. I proceeded to wearing my sweater… my favourite blue nike sweater… The couple saw and laughed… I simply shrugged… As we got off the bus, they were convinced that "It’s juz a little chilly, that’s all…"

That was until the came out of being between of two buses and the breeze hit em… They had to drop everything and threw their jackets on… =0) If only I was quick enough to catch that moment on film… From then on, Pinky would have 2 sweaters and his army parka on and Juleana, her sweater and michillin man jacket… hahahahahahaa

We had dinner at Chicken Gourmet and took a bus home… Came home, threw our bags in my old room and showed em around… Along the way, I banged on Taylor’s door and got him out to join us… Afterwhich, I called security to open my new room… It was a mess and the residences didn’t clean the room…

Very nice of 3 of em, they helped me clean the new room and moved into it… Naturally, the couple slept in my much cleaner old room for the night…

We are headed to the snowies tmw…

1st July

This was another day I left for Pinky and Juleana.. I took the chance to visit Kelly again… Armed with a bus route guide, graciously given to me by James, I made my attempt to use the public transport outta St Lucia and into Indooroopilly… The bus ride wasn’t bad… But I missed my alighting bus stop and I had to walk a good 1 km to Kelly’s in the rain… Oh well…

Met up with her and with her flu, we decided to just bum ass at the coffee club at her void deck… Had hot chocolate and some sandwich thingy which were good… We talked about everything under the ceiling from our instructor days, fashion, Korean soaps, Paris Hilton, etc… We proceeded to Indooroopilly Mall, walked around abit and I left for home…

As when I reached home, I found out I was locked out.. Pink and Juleana were out shopping and James was out doing something else I didn’t knew.. Sat by the pool till the couple came back and Stephan later came by and 5 of us, Pinky, Jule, James, Stephan and Me went to the Casino…

I was amazed at how Stephan betted… He blew AUD50 in 15 mins… WOW! I didn’t spend any, mainly cos I don’t believe in gambling… Besides I dunno if I can get over me wasting money juz like that… I am a cheapo…

After the casino, we had a long drive around just to pump up some gas… Stephan was "showing" us around… =0)

To the next day….

ahhhh canberra sweet canberra…

And yes, I’m finally home… Neglected my blog big time and this is my update to those who are following my life closely… I feel as I’m on Big Brother, the only diff is that you can’t see me scratch my butt…

30th June

This is the day when nature took control of our plans… We planned to wake up at 230am and to catch the sunrise at Byron Bay… When we left, it was raining and I slept thoughout the drive.. I woke up momentarily when we arrived… It was still raining.. We decided to sleep till sunrise… It was still raining when we woke up again, and it was bright already… In fact, it was raining like never before… It was elephants and whales already.. Dang, we decided we should find some place for breakfast and so much for the lookout…

Arrived at a motel as most of us had to use the loo.. Micheal spoke to the innkeeper and found out that we were in fact stuck in Byron itself… Apparently, none of our 3 cars were tuned in the radio, the rain brought in the floods and the only roads in and out were waterlogged and closed.. We decided, breakfast was a good option whilst we wait it out.. Naturally, I was playing in the water and yet taking the many shots I always do..

After brekky at Subway, it was still flooded… We tried driving our but in vain… Till we saw many cars heading towards a road at the back… Apparently, that was a shortcut to the road out of Byron… That effectively cut our route in water by half.. We took the risk to drive over knee deep water and all our cars made it… *phew*

We then proceeded to Rainbow lookout or something… Nothing spectacular, juz strong waves… Though I realized that juz confirmed I won’t get to swim at the beach today… Afterwhich, we headed to O’Reiley’s Treetop walk… It was a LONG drive again… Did the treetop walk for less then 5 mins and we were done… Not fantastic then, cos it’s dark… But I reckon it would be better when bright…

I took after the driving after that was Pinky was euhausted. I kept tail behind Stephan and as we pasted Sunnybanks, he did an illegal U-ry… I followed him, not knowing it was illegal… The next thing we knew is flashing bar lights and sirens… Coppers! Dang man… Though I was outta town but I still got summoned.. It was quite funny and the coppers were real friendly about it… These were 2 tickets we got which we couldn’t stop laughing about.. Juleana and Pinky were video recording inside the car and the copper actually waved at the camera… The both cars got a AUD60 tix each, which made out to be AUD15 per person…
