eight days, in a weak..
Saturday, October 22nd, 2005I am getting weak knees… In eight days time, I would be in Sunbeam Design Studio, presenting my work… That’s just it.. That’s the final say.. Before that I’ve got my rendering and ProE models due this Thursday.. Still before that, Furniture Design essay, is up on Tuesday…
The good thing is that I have completed my Practice Management’s s*crap* book. "S" a synonym for ass so that makes ass crap book, and I have scanned my sketches yesterday… That’s two hurdles down… Doesn’t sound a lot but it is… That asswipe book holds 20% of my Practice Management module and essentially, I have beaten everyone to the scanner; everyone’s gonna fight for it the last min cos we need sketches for our powerpoints on Monday! Phew..
My ProE is not too shabby… I have decided that I would do up a couple of nice exterior renderings of my kettle and toaster set and not do any exploded nor cut throughs.. Don’t wanna flaunt my shortcomings in a major presentation… And in line of that goal I’ve set, I can say my kettle is completed and toaster almost there.. Sweet..
I believe I am now totally out of the Playground People.. Arrived at work on Friday and found out I wasn’t needed there… Wasted AUD10 on gas but I just leave this whole thingy to Him.. There’s nothing I can do nor say nor appeal nor anything.. I believe a reason for everything and God has a best plan for all of us and though sometimes it seems dark, light is breaking in other grounds…
I missed out on free accommodation over summer by 10 mins… Linda sent me a contact for a vacant house in need of a housesitter.. I called 10 mins too late.. Oh well…
There was Sparkles on Thursday. Sparkles is an annual Industrial Design night’s out which I later found out, started 24 years ago and was started to build rapport between fellow staff and students. Within Sparkles is this tradition of the "Sparkle’s Awards". Awards are given out to anyone, staff or student, in ID for achievements they have made throughout the year… Naturally, the word "achievements" is a loophole and naturally, again, spoofed at.
Don Carson, our lecturer, started the awards with giving Eddi, our other lecturer (in charge of ProE), a little buddha figurine… He explained that he was on vacation in Thailand when he saw this vendor of such and initially chose one which symbolizes the buddhist spirit of martial arts, Eddie being a practicer of that… He decided otherwise and chose one which symbolized the spirit of safety instead; to protect him from "those bloody nitwits asking impossible ProE questions". I think I’m one of those… =0)
Joel Wise, my classmate whom I am supposed to move in with, came out with one for the Procrasinator of the Year Award… It when out to Mark Thompson. If you remember from my previous previous entries… Mark is the guy I was in a group project with who refused to do any work.. Well, his trophy was a block of wood.. Joel said he was going to finish it but he just didn’t have the time to…
A random fourth year gave out an award to Don Carson, our lecturer, for the Major Understatement Award. Supposedly, in a unspecified 4th year critic session, Don was heard with this line, "For fucking crying out loud, you fuckers are fourth years you know!"
Anyway, I got an award myself… I was awarded by Ben, the ProEngineer Rage Award.. My trophy was a bashed up kettle I smashed whilst in rage when ProE died on me.. =0)
I had also attended this "Impressions of Singapore" exhibition at the Singapore High Commission on Wednesday.. It was a photographic exhibition by this lady who is the creative director of the magazine, Expressions. Frankly, the pictures weren’t impressive; VERY predictable and mundane composition, lousy lighting, dire lack of focus where it should be. Some of em were nice but others, crap. I was amazed when she was up on stage presenting her work, she tried justifying herself with bull like "hazy Singapore so colors are not vibrant", "light is different there", "humidity affected stuff". The CSC committee members had dinner @ Jimmy’s later and that was by far more interesting!

My ration for the past week and this week to come.. Instant TV dinners…
